Since the announcement of Windows 10 on January 21, 2015, we’ve seen several preview builds of the Windows 10 mobile OS. But Microsoft has finally outed the official version of its Windows 10 OS for its mobile platform. This update will affect the Lumia phones running windows phone 8.0 or windows phone 8.1. The update is headed to these smartphones though each one may get it on a different date (and where Microsoft/Nokia isn’t the manufacturer, things are up to that particular company when it comes to timing):

Michael Fortin, CVP Windows and Devices Group core Quality had this to say:
“Today, we’re pleased to begin the roll-out of Windows 10 Mobile to select Windows Phone 8.1 devices. Consistent with our approach to the Windows 10 PC upgrade, we are focused on delivering a high-quality experience for our customers. The Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor app can be downloaded from the Windows Store to see if the upgrade is available for your device. You can see the current list of Windows Phone 8.1 devices that are supported for the upgrade to Windows 10.”

Windows 10 for mobile is packed with so many great features such as the continuum feature that allows you to use your phone on your desktop when you hook it up to a compatible stand. It also has great customization options and some new material design.
The notification panel now has more buttons much like what you’d see on the desktop version of Windows 10. The storage management is also more flexible in the new release than in the previous versions.
Cortana, Microsoft’s voice assistant, also has deeper integration and can perform more tasks and answer your questions more accurately. Also, Microsoft also has tons of new and relevant apps in its Windows store. The Windows 10 mobile users also get to enjoy the experience of Microsoft’s new browser, Microsoft Edge.
To upgrade your Windows phone device, download The Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor app to see if the upgrade is available for your device. Then you can update your device OTA (Over-the-Air), else you wait till the update becomes available for your device (maybe based on your mobile carrier).

The mobile OS ecosystem is a warfare zone with gladiators like Android and iOS taking up most of the market share. But for people that love the simplicity of a fast and fluid mobile OS with a quick and responsive GUI (graphic user interface) that can help you with work and also be handy for entertainment, Windows phone should be your go-to mobile platform.
