Lava V5 is an affordable smartphone targeted at photography enthusiasts.The device comes with powerful cameras, an HD IPS display, a quad-core processor, generous RAM and access to the newest Android software version.

Design and Display

The Lava V5 shows off a sleek design which its maker says will ‘turn every head around.’ It is rimmed with metal to boost its promise of durability. The thickness is average at 8.3 millimetres and it weighs in around 153 grams. The V5 crams in a humongous 5.5-inch IPS display with an HD resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels.

With a pixel density of about 267 ppi, the fully-laminated screen looks to deliver manageable wide-angle viewing. It is protected by hard-wearing Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Camera

One of the main talking point on the Lava V5 is what users get in the camera department. The phone packs a 13-megapixel Samsung camera on the rear. This shooter features a 5-layer Largan lens with blue glass filter and an f/2.0 aperture.

It comes with ultra-fast phase detection autofocus that locks in focus in just 0.18 seconds as well as dual LED flash for super lowlight photography. The Lava V5 also offers the user a sturdy 8-megapixel front-facing snapper with an 84-degree wide-angle lens and LED flash for awesome selfies.

Performance and OS

The V5 is powered by a quad-core MediaTek processor whose speed is capped at 1.3 GHz. The 64-bit chip is teamed up with 3 GB of RAM. With that ample RAM capacity, apps should open very fast and gaming should be pure pleasure.

The smartphone will run on Lava’s own Star OS 2.0 software, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The company promises users guaranteed upgrade to the newer Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

Other Features

If you ever manage to lay your hands on a unit of the Lava V5, you should expect awesome battery life. This is considering it comes with a 3,000mAh Li-Polymer battery which its maker says will deliver talk time of over 27 hours. A Super Power Saving mode lets you squeeze more usage time out of the juicer.

Onboard storage has a capacity of 16 GB, of which slightly over 11 GB is available to the user. The phone takes up to 32GB microSD cards for expansion. It supports blazing-fast 4G LTE connectivity.

Pricing and Availability

Lava V5 is not yet available in Nigeria. When available, you can buy it at leading online stores in the country. Lava V5 Price in Nigeria is expected to range from N35,000 to N42,000 depending on your location in Nigeria.
